English Dub Review: Seven Mortal Sins “God’s in His Heaven, All’s Right With the World”
All is not right with Seven Mortal Sins as after its odd programming hiatus it’s back for its finale.
Finally, after a few weeks of odd delay, we have our finale to Seven Mortal Sins and it is disappointingly the dullest and lifeless episode out of the series. This is the final battle between Lucifer and Michael so you would expect a grand battle and we do get that, all of the mortal sins fight in their own unique ways and that is cool undoubtedly. But it is a finale feeling up its own ass.
Seven Mortal Sins is not a smart anime. It cannot do drama worth a damn. Every single time it tries anything more serious than Lucifer the demon lord singing J-pop for YouTube views it falls flat on its face. I think the reason for that is the audience isn’t that connected to Lucifer on an emotional level. But how can you be when the show is too busy victimizing her for cheap pride filled laughs? It makes her dramatic twist for why she is fighting against heaven feel completely moot. I don’t doubt people can like these characters. I will admit by the end I’ve grown an appreciation for them in a sick mocking type of way. But the highlights for me at least are when it’s the demon lords being the demon lords. Becoming pawns in Lucifer’s friendship fight against Michael defangs the enjoyment of their performances.
However, what really just made me want to slam my head against a wall watching is Maria. 12 episodes we have had with Maria and I do not know what her purpose was. The story’s answer would be because Lucifer put her angel’s blood into Maria for safe keeping. Ignoring the glaring issue that the show never explains what angel blood really does until the very end of the series. This just leaves Maria as a stock holm syndrome stricken doofus. Especially at the very end where the major dramatic but not dramatic twist of Maria dying is revealed. She is then brought back to life soon after. Why? How? The show doesn’t care so, why should we?
We should care because even from our stupid boob jiggling shows a level of quality should be consistent. I am not tearing the show down for trying to have an emotional moment. I am tearing into Seven Mortal Sins because it only attempts to tell that emotional moment half-heartedly. If you are able to separate the drama from the stupid boob show then that is all well and good but even just taking it on its own it is very below the show’s current video quality level. The action scene features the dullest fight choreography between Lucifer and Michael with the other Sins being the saving grace and exhibiting clever means of fighting. The dramatic writing is bare bones letting a lot of emotional the episode try to pull slip through its fingers. Finally, the episode’s inclusion of boobs and ass was quite frankly the dullest method to showing them off I’ve seen in this series. This is the crazy demon boob half hour and unlike the other episodes where the boobs and ass stood out as they were implemented so cartoonish out of place, the finale just presents it plainly. Nothing special that we haven’t seen in the previous episodes. It is just a disappointing finale to a show that was so humorously inept.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
