Review: Family Guy – Scammed Yankees
Peter is left to care for Carter in the way a babysitter would. During this time, Carter opens a spam email that wants him to send money. Peter obviously thinks this is a good idea and Carter promptly agrees and sends $100,000. After Lois and her mother get home, the guys realize that they have been duped. The only logical line of reasoning at this point would be to travel to Africa. This turns into a fiasco when Carter is looked at as a hero and gains power, all because of the money he sent over. He destroys all the good his money was used for and then imprisons Peter.
During all of this, Brian was on a side quest for half of the episode to nail one of Meg’s friends. It was a story about an ugly duckling teenager who didn’t know her body was bangin’. This is filler to me. There’s at least an exaggerated number of one million chick flick movies with this same plot. Unoriginal.
With that being said, the trip to Africa came close to evening the episode out for me. There were plenty of laughs. I think the best part of the episode was when Carter ordered that everything get torn down and mosquito nets were taken away from 3 children. This caused mosquitos to swarm them and take 2 of the 3 children away. Old Man Herbert comes buzzing in dressed as a mosquito and takes the third child away. I laughed for a good amount of time. He’s one of my favorite characters on the show. There was also a quick mention of U2 not actually knowing or helping anyone in Africa. That one got me good.

I may get some flak for this being a little harsh, but I feel like I was only given half an episode because of my above mentioned reasoning with Brian.
Sidenote: The writers of Family Guy seem like they were on a musical binge of bands out of the 90’s during the creation of this episode. The show opened up with a reference to Jamiroquia and then later gave a nod to Smash Mouth. I don’t want to believe that these are dated references (because I don’t want to come to terms with my age), but some may have missed them. I love 90’s music, so keep it coming.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
