Hand to God Suit Dismissed

Remember that Hand to God lawsuit from the estate holders of Abbott & Costello a few months back? Well, Deadline is officially reporting that the lawsuit has officially been dismissed for the Broadway play that is open with Bob Saget for about a couple more weeks.

Tony nominated Hand to God was being sued by the heirs of the Abbott & Costello for a scene in which the play’s star, Keven Boyer, also a Tony nominee, a teenage puppeteer who tries to impress a girl by performing “Who’s On First” with his sock puppet.

Turns out this routine was inspired by the comedy bit of the same name as done by Abbott & Costello, and the bit was used WITHOUT permission from the estate holders despite the fact that the A&C heirs have tried numerous times to come to some sort of arrangement. The H2G producers more or less ignored the heirs, and BOOM that’s why we had a lawsuit.
