To reiterate what was reviewed the other day, the NBC-animated adaptation of Elf was kind of a disaster, and according to Deadline it shows in the ratings. Here’s what they had to say:
It’s been rough sledding for new broadcast holiday specials this year. The latest, NBC’s Elf! Buddy’s Musical Christmas from 8-9 PM, drew a soft 1.3 in 18-49, topped by the evergreen A Charlie Brown Christmas (1.7) on ABC.
Yep, Charlie Brown is still kicking ass, and even with Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons in the lead role, that wasn’t enough to bring about the sort of expectations that NBC was having. This doesn’t bode well for future animated prospects on NBC as How Murray Saved Christmas didn’t do THAT much better. Perhaps if the network had a more consistent animated presence, viewers would be more interested, but that doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.
