Reddit AMA Recap: Bill Murray equates Garfield movies to miscarriages

Yep, Bill Murray did a Reddit AMA and I have to give him props to the fact that although he didn’t answer a TON of questions, he certainly gave way to some of the longer answers that Reddit AMAs typically have. That said, Bill had a bunch to say about two popular voice roles from his career, that of the Badger from Fantastic Mr. Fox and of course the god awful Garfield movies. Bill gives a rather long answer to someone asking if there was going to be a third Garfield film…

Let that sink in for a second…a third Garfield movie. Because the first two movies didn’t do enough to pretty much ruin the popular cartoon franchise, let’s really bury the character by piling on another turd.

Mr. Murray sounded just as disinterested in reprising his role as Garfield despite the franchise’s somewhat financial success of the first two. In his answer as to whether or not he would want to make a third one, he actually had decent words to say about the end product of the first Garfield movie, but the SECOND one he just lays it on thick on the director. For starters, he called the dude insane and then admonished the film entirely for making Jennifer Love-Hewitt a homeless person.:

They made a movie after that second miscarriage, that went directly to video. So they sort of shot themselves in the foot, the kidneys, the liver and the pancreas on the second one.

Classic Murray one-liners. My personal favorite Bill Murray flick is Kingpin followed closely by the first Ghostbusters film. You can check out the rest of the Reddit AMA here.
