Upfronts 2017: truTV Does NOT Appear To Be Interested In Animation For 2017/2018

Updates on various animated projects for truTV.

With the Turner presentation over at Upfronts 2017, one thing’s for certain, the company is keeping strong its heritage of bringing in top-flight animated programming on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and pretty soon, TBS.

Unfortunately, this appears to NOT be the case for truTV. The network had previously ordered a pilot presentation for a series called Greenhousethe 30-minute animated comedy in development from Titmouse that explores the complicated relationships that exist within one family-owned marijuana shop in Seattle, Washington. The series does not appear to be coming to truTV during the 2017/2018 broadcast year.

Also absent from the press release for the 2017/2018 programming slate, was any mention of Celebrity Storytellingthe animated shorts series that appeared as a part of Rachel Dratch’s Late Night Snack despite the fact that additional episodes were reportedly ordered.

Of course, things could change minutes after this article is posted, however, with what we can tell, there doesn’t appear to be anything greenlit on the horizon for animated television on truTV. Fortunately, sister networks Adult Swim and TBS have a shit-load of new content on the way, and who knows, maybe a series that doesn’t land on truTV could land on one of the other two networks sometime down the road?
