Turner Broadcasting Makes A Move In Content Acquisitions But Kids Itself On Adult Swim

Don’t piss on our leg and tell us it’s raining.

Turner Broadcasting has put out a press release announcing that Valerie Meraz has been promoted to senior vice president of content acquisitions & strategy for Turner’s entertainment networks. In this capacity, she negotiates deals for movies and off-network television series on behalf of TBS, TNT, truTV, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and FilmStruck. The content she and her team acquire help support original programming for all of those brands, including the programming and brand evolutions at TNT & TBS.

Here was the best part of the press release…ready?  In addition, Meraz has taken part in negotiating long-term deals for Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers and other series that help support Adult Swim’s original programming line-up.

Our Take

Did you see it? Let me give you give it to you straight. Supporting Adult Swim’s original programming? BWA HAHAHAHAHAHA. Horse…SHIT! What original programming? If anything Valerie’s the reason Adult Swim is even surviving because all you get on the network nowadays is the aforementioned shows which then gives us mass amounts of reruns. By the time Samurai Jack premieres, it will have been almost 6 months since the network has posted anything “original” and that’s regardless of either in America OR Canada.

Hopefully, this changes in the months to come.
