The Lucas Bros. Had A Killer Pitch For An Animated Series That Every Network Passed On And Now Fans Are PISSED

What…the hell.

There have been some major fuck ups in the history of the entertainment business that really grind my gears. Whether it’s FOX not going with Neil Blomkamp’s take on Alien, or a Seth MacFarlane-produced take on The Flintstones, networks and movie studios alike take turns passing on killer ideas that fans would naturally love if they had come to fruition.

Here’s a new entry in the “what the fuck are the networks thinking?” folder featuring twin-standup comedians the Lucas Bros., the creative forces behind FXX’s excellent The Lucas Bros. Moving Company which aired for a couple of seasons before the network just kind of gave up on life. Here’s another pitch for an animated series the boys had that has since been passed on:

Our Take

Sounds about right. Black-produced animated comedy is bubbling up, but not fast enough. Last year saw some passes on some strong animated content created by black producers but it’s getting slightly better as recent efforts like Cannon Busters and The Jellies have each been ordered to series and have showcased some stellar talent. This year we’re getting Deadpool from the guys who make the Emmy-winning series Atlanta, so maybe that will kick off a pickup frenzy a bit.
