TBS Suspending Production on “The Cops” Following Louis C.K. Sexual Misconduct Allegations

It was only a matter of time I suppose.

In a sign of the times, numerous women have come forward in an expose in The New York Times with allegations of sexual misconduct perpetrated by comedian Louis C.K. Since then, Louis C.K. has verified these allegations and now comes the windfall.

As a result of the allegations, Deadline is reporting that production on The Cops has been suspended and the lead role opposite Al Brooks could be recast. Furthermore, Louis C.K. will be stripped of production credits for the series nor have any further affiliation with FX Prods.

The Cops is an upcoming animated comedy coming to TBS set to premiere sometime in 2018. The Cops follows Al (Brooks) and Lou (C.K.), two Los Angeles patrolmen trying their best to protect and serve, sometimes failing at both. Ride with them as they patrol one of the biggest cities in the world, then go home with them and be glad you’re not married to either. Ten episodes have been ordered.

Update 11/11: We have learned that Jen Richards was set to play a trans character in the series The Cops and that two of the people who have alleged wrongdoing against Louis C.K. were Biatches creators Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov.

Our Take

With the series having been ordered in early 2017, there is definitely going to be a delay in airing. The series will probably be recast, and if so, that’s gonna take time to find the person, record all the lines, then reproduce the character as the original looking “Lou” bore a resemblance to Louis C.K. At best, Q4 2018.
