I wish I lived in fucking LA, cuz now Brendon Small’s Galaktikon is set to make their debut LIVE at the Roxy. The show is set to take place March 3rd, 2013 and the show is going to be a benefit gig the Wes Wehmiller Scholarship at Berklee College Of Music hence the name of the show Wesfest.com. Last year, Galaktikon released its debut album, and on subsequent interviews Brendon Small has been asked 10,000 times when the live debut of ‘kon was gonna happen and now here it is! You can purchase tickets here and check out our review of the album here.

mLive DOES INTERVIEW WITH @_Brendonsmall…SAYS “I’VE GOT MORE STORIES TO TELL”

mLive DOES INTERVIEW WITH BRENDON SMALL..SAYS “I’VE GOT MORE STORIES TO TELL”

John Serba of mlive.com recently did a fantastic interview with Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small as the Dethklok frontman makes the rounds during his North American trek that is coming to a town near you. One of the more interesting quotes in the article is the following:

“I’ve got more stories to tell, which would pick up with the frame right after the finale,” Small said. “It could potentially continue (without me) after that.”

A really long time ago we actually surmised whether or not Metalocalypse will always have Brendon Small’s full attention as he has fiddled with the idea of doing stand up, released a solo album entitled Galaktikonand sells a shit ton of records as part of the live iteration of Dethklok. I actually see an exec producer cred/voice talent role always associated with Metalocalypse for Brendon but with the possibility of going the Seth MacFarlane route and just hire writers and what not to round out the show production. Is this a positive step in the show’s future?? What do you think?

COULD @_Brendonsmall BE BACK DOING STANDUP COMEDY??

COULD BRENDON SMALL BE BACK DOING STANDUP COMEDY??

Executive producer/writer/voice over for the hit animated series Metalocalypse, brain-child behind the critically heralded Galaktikonsuccessful heavy metal touring front man for one of the biggest heavy metal acts of the last decade Dethklok. Yet, I bet if I told you that Brendon Small not only got his start in all this with a Boston-based stand-up that has given us the likes of Denis Leary, Joe Rogan, and a slew of others that I could literally sit here all day and preach about because its probably my favorite of all the stand-up scenes despite the fact that I grew up about 40 minutes outside of NYC.

Welp, according to a new article on Noisecreep, Brendon is working on some stand-up material again and to prove that he is serious check out this tweet he put up yesterday!

For those who don’t know UCB Theater is one of the premier improvisational theater companies on the planet having given us some legendary names like Ed Helms, Fred Armisen, and a host of others. Could Brendon Small be thinking about a stand-up comedy tour?? Welp, even if he is, he has to do a MONSTER tour with Dethklok/Machinehead/Black Dahila Murder first. But, hell what’s one more thing to help pad an already stellar resume??

‘GALAKTIKON’ POSTS WEAK FIRST WEEK SALES FIGURES

‘GALAKTIKON’ POSTS WEAK FIRST WEEK SALES FIGURES

A couple weeks ago  Brendon Small mentioned that if his new project Galaktikon sells well that he would be interested in doing a comic book, hell maybe even an animated series  based on the album. Welp, if the recent sales of the album are an indicator of anything, it might mean we may never get to see the light of day for any of these cool projects as according to Nielsen’s Soundscan Galaktikon’s first week sales are at about 1,206 copies which is a far cry from the first Dethalbum which sold just under 34,000 copies and even further south from Dethalbum II which sold 45,000 copies its first week. And no you can’t use the whole “Technorati streamed the Galaktikon album before it came out, hence the lack of sales” because I know a week before the first Dethalbum came out that AOL MUSIC did the same thing.

Cybertron recently did a review of Brendon Small’s Galaktikon and gave it a 9/10 score. What did YOU think of Brendon Small’s latest effort? If you want to still buy the record you can on www.brendonsmall.com

THAT’S ALL FOR THIS WEEK FOLKS!

THAT’S ALL FOR THIS WEEK FOLKS!

Despite the fact that there were NO new episodes of anything last weekend, be it Disney, The Hub, or Animation Domination we have a rather busy week doing reviews and previews like for The Simpsons Tapped Out, Phineas and Ferb Live, and TWO DVD Reviews from FOX Connect(Bob’s Burgers Season 1 and American Dad Vol 7).  Unfortunately, we have no more South Park or Ugly Americans for quite a while as we celebrated their season finales this past week but we are also getting pumped for the premier of Metalocalypse Season 4 which comes back April 29th@12:15 on Adult Swim. Let’s Take a look at what else we did this week:

>>>Life and Times of Tim got the axe this week courtesy of HBO, while FOX gets a NEW animated series called Axe Cop and Futurama gets a return date!

>>>Brendon Small did a bunch of interviews which you can check out with the corresponding tags for Metalocalypse and Galaktikon

>>>Eliah Wood is going to be in Red Vs Blue!

>>>South Park did aGame of Thrones inspired gag on this past week’s finale and I totally missed it.

REVIEW: Brendon Small’s Galaktikon

The guys over at Technorati sure love them some Brendon Small. Recently, they interviewed the son of a bitch and now they get a full stream of his latest ‘audio comic book’ known as Galaktikon a new project featuring Dethklok band members Gene Hoglan and Bryan Beller. After the jump, you can check out what we thought of Brendon’s latest venture and see if its up to snuff.

BRENDON SMALL INTERVIEWS WITH ‘NERVOUS BREAKDOWN” TALKS GALAKTIKON BACK STORY

BRENDON SMALL INTERVIEWS WITH ‘NERVOUS BREAKDOWN” TALKS GALAKTIKON BACK STORY

Of all the online interviews I’ve seen online the last few weeks with Brendon Small I think this one may be my favorite. In it Brendon gives Joe Daly of Nervous Breakdown the deal on Metalocalypse Season 4 and for the first time really goes in depth behind the story of Galaktikon and by this not just insight on how the record sounds, but rather what its about almost like your hearing about what an upcoming movie or book is about. Check it out after the jump…

Galaktikon is set to release on www.brendonsmall.com this Sunday to coincide the Season 4 premier of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim 4/29.

BRENDON SMALL (@_Brendonsmall) CONFIRMS TO TECHNORATI DETHALBUM III ON THE WAY FOR THIS YEAR!!

BRENDON SMALL(@_Brendonsmall) CONFIRMS TO TECHNORATI DETHALBUM III ON THE WAY FOR THIS YEAR!!!

Holllly smokes…so Technorati did an interview with Brendon Small recently talking all about Metalocalypse, Galaktikon, and potential touring plans with Dethklok. If you remember we had the story last week about Dethklok playing the Heavy MTL Festival in Toronto, CAN…could there be more dates on the way? According to the article:

Technorati – TW: You’re planning on doing Dethalbum III?
That’s what the hope is. Again, it takes a long time to organize this stuff, but we’ve got a lot of songs from Season 3 and from all the music I’m writing for Season 4, there’s a lot of new stuff out there and some of it’s really pretty cool.

Congrats to Tricia Weight for getting that morsel of goodness out of Brendon as from ALL the interviews he’s been doing the past couple weeks, this is the first time I think he’s confirmed a third Dethalbum on the way. Metalocalypse is set to premier on April 29th @ 12:15 on Adult Swim which is the same day Brendon Small’s Galaktikon is set to drop on www.brendonsmall.com. Gonna be a dark fucking weekend!

Brendon Small has been busy as hell promoting Metalocalypse and Galaktikon and he ain’t through yet as the ‘Across the Board’ radio show was lucky enough to chat with the man himself on a recent edition of their show. You can check out a clip below talking about all the things Brendon is working on and then some. Metalocalypse is set to premier its fourth season April 29th @12:15, check your local listings. BRENDON SMALL(@_Brendonsmall) INTERVIEWED AT REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS 2012

BRENDON SMALL(@_Brendonsmall) INTERVIEWED AT REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS

2012Yes, we are on a bit of a kick here today talking about ALL things Brendon Small and Metalocalypse because shit, a week from this Sunday we get the release of Galaktikon to go along with the Season 4 premier. Recently, Brendon was at the taping of the sure to be terrible Revolver Golden Gods 2012 and the guys over at Metal Injection were able to catch up with him on the black carpet to talk about everything Brendon’s working on and then some.

You might want to know that I can’t stand the Golden Gods on SpikeTV, as I think its a sham and really they try to make an award show that is supposed to be about heavy metal more along the lines of sister network’s MTV’s VMA Awards which are typically just as terrible. So, if you want to save yourself the trouble of actually watching the broadcast, here’s a link to all the winners courtesy of Loudwire.com.
