COMEDY CENTRAL LAUNCHES SATELLITE RADIO STATION AND DIGITAL STUDIO

Comedy Central put out a press release that they are launching a new Siriux XM-branded station that will feature a bunch of pre-recorded Stand-Up Comedy shows and even feature exclusive talk shows hosted by well-known comedians. The infinitely cooler news for Comedy Central is that they are launching a new Digital Studio with the purpose of distributing new content that would include both original works for live-action AND animation.  According to a separate press release:

CC Studios will serve as a destination where comedy and technology collide across multiple platforms to produce original share-able content for millennials.  The goal is to provide a creative playground for the comedy community where comedians, directors, writers and animators can develop and cultivate their passion projects and further engage their peers and fans.

This isn’t Comedy Central’s first foray into online animated comedy, I just hope they stick to it this time. That said, they did a brilliant online marketing routine for Brickleberry’s first season which certainly helped in sending it to a second season. That said, this new initiative should be interesting and hopefully the content is too.

Brickleberry

If you are like me, you miss Brickleberry already on Tuesday Nights. No foolin’ I’m in withdrawals and I was thinking of resorting to drugs. Thankfully, show co-creator Roger Black has been tweeting pics in preparation of the new season including things like table reads and Roger in the sound booth laying down some Connie. Brickleberry was recently ranked in our ten best animated shows of 2012, and there’s no reason Season 2 can’t rank higher on next year’s list. Brickleberry returns this Fall on Comedy Central with all new episodes, but reruns are shown all the time so if you haven’t check out the series yet you should start DVR-ing right now.

DOES ‘BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD’ HAVE A NEW HOME???

DOES ‘BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD’ HAVE A NEW HOME???

Beavis_and_Butt-head_titlecard

This past Saturday Night on Comedy Central we got a bad ass marathon featuring South Park and the most recent run of Beavis and Butthead that was on MTV towards the end of 2011. For those whom might think this is trivial read on. A couple months back Eric the Midget of the Howard Stern Show actually interviewed Beavis and Butthead creator Mike Judge about the whereabouts of his super big animated franchise. According to Mike Judge, he is trying to sell Beavis and Butthead to other networks but says ‘MTV moves too slow’.  But, with the marathon could that signify that B&B has a new and permanent home?

Taking all this into consideration, Beavis and Butthead: Do America is played on Comedy Central 10,000 times a year so one would think that if MTV didn’t work out that Comedy Central could be a likely home for Beavis and Butthead. Comedy Central has a bunch of great animated shows like South Park, Brickleberry, Futurama and Ugly Americans on its network and it looks to add to that with new additions TripTank and GajillionairesThat said, a South Park/ Beavis and Butthead Wednesday Night would almost certainly guarantee Comedy Central winning the 10pm time slot every week on cable TV.

So yea, who wants new Beavis and Butthead? Are there other animated shows that you would like to see that MTV used to air that would make sense on Comedy Central??

DVD REVIEW: FUTURAMA VOL:7

The first half of Futrama’s 7th Season was one of the show’s strongest yet and as such are psyched about its return next summer on Comedy Central. That said, is that enough to warrant a purchase of the home release with all 13 episodes included?? We tell you after the jump.

@FUTURAMA CONFIRMED FOR SUMMER 2013 RETURN BY EXEC PRODUCER

‘FUTURAMA’ CONFIRMED FOR SUMMER 2013 RETURN BY EXEC PRODUCER

To be honest, I had the sense that Futurama would’ve started earlier in 2013, but in this new interview that David X.. Cohen (Exec Producer, Futurama) does with NBC, he confirms that Futurama WILL be back in Summer of 2013 with a probable start date similar to the one we got this past summer. Also like 2013, we are getting a new special of which David talks about in the article:

And you still have more new shows coming up next summer. What can you tease, as far as some storylines or characters that are going to get some attention?

I’ll tell you a little bit about next summer’s three-parter: we’ve established this pattern where we make one of these specials per summer now. So next summer’s three-parter is probably the writing staff’s favorite of the group coming out for 2013. It’s called “Saturday Morning Fun Pit.” And this one you will see “Futurama” re‑imagined as three different morning cartoons like, as I call them, Crap-tastic morning cartoons in the 70s and 80s. I can give you the name of the segments, and that will give you a hint of what you’re in for: The first one is called “Bendy Boo and the Mystery Crew.” The second one is called “Purpleberry Pond,” and the third one is called G.I. Zapp”

So, there you have it folks, NEW Futurama coming soon. The finale episode sounds all sorts of righteous as well and as such makes me all antsy for new episodes sooner rather than later. So yea, who wants some NEW Futurama!?Be sure to read the rest of the article as its an entertaining read.
