‘South Park: The Stick of Truth’ Developers Have Talked About Making an ‘Archer’ Game
Although it’s just a lot of talk for now, Obsidian Entertainment, developers of South Park: The Stick of Truth, have been discussing the possibility of making a game based on FX’s Archer for several years.
And why not? The Stick of Truth was – and still is – surprisingly a smash hit, especially as far as TV-based RPG games go.
And considering the fact that Obsidian was also behind Alpha Protocol, the spy-fiction RPG from 2010 that has amassed a cult following since its release, the idea doesn’t seem too far fetched.
“I don’t think people really thought about it, or at least not seriously, until after Alpha Protocol shipped,” Obsidian project director Josh Sawyer told PC Gamer. “But it has come up actually several times of people saying, ‘Yeah, that would be a good fit. Archer Protocol!’”
The two spy entities are more similar than they seem at first glance.
“Alpha Protocol has a very realistic look to it, but it’s also kind of silly and comical in a lot of ways,” Sawyer added. “Obviously Archer is a great fit for that sort of stuff.”
Maybe one day It’ll actually happen. In the meantime, new episodes of Archer will drop early next year on its new home, FXX.
