Simpsons News: Ed Sheeran Confirmed To “The Simpsons” ; Script for The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show Leaks
We’ve got some quick hit items you should know about.
We were the first to report on rumors on Ed Sheeran coming to The Simpsons, but EW has confirmed it with a first-look at the character in which Ed will be voicing in the show’s 29th season. Ed will be voicing the role of “Brendan”, a possible love interest to Lisa that is both a musician and not Milhouse which of course makes the latter a bit jealous. As a matter of fact, the whole bit sounds VERY similar to The Simpson Movie’s “Colin” character, all the way down to the expected Irish accent.
One of the very best episodes ever, “The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show” episode of The Simpsons featured a bunch of tryouts for a new character to join “Itchy & Scratchy” team in the form of “Poochie”. Ultimately, Homer got the gig, but there were a bunch of auditions that weren’t even seen due to scenes cut from the script. Examples were revealed by longtime Simpsons producer Josh Weinstein that you can see below:

Speaking of Simpsons episodes written by Josh Weinstein and David Cohen, the duo were featured in an oral history of the “Planet of the Apes” parody that you can read about here.
The Simpsons return October 1st with all-new episodes only on FOX.
