Shorts Review: How Frozen Should Have Ended

I swear, if there’s one mention of making a snowman, I’m torching Frosty.

In our expanding foray into animated shorts, I bring to you, How it Should Have Ended. Going in, I couldn’t give you the first bit of plot from Frozen, because I try to stay away from anything Disney that isn’t Marvel and Lucasfilm. I do admit, however, that Disney does a great job at computer animation. This isn’t a Pixar job, though.

Before we begin, let me reitorate that I have no knowledge of the plot of characters of Frozen. I only know that it “won” an Academy award, and “Let’s Build a Snowman” and “Let it Go” are literally everywhere, and you can’t avoid it. It’s kind of like the Plague, but less pleasant.

We get an “HISHE” Disney-like intro, with Batman as Mickey, and it looks pretty neat. As the video begins, someone that looks like a troll doll with a crewcut gives Anna amnesia, making her forget about Elsa having Mr. Freeze powers. Troll doll guy tells Elsa that her power will grow, because it will be dangerous. Her parents take it in the exact wrong direction, saying that she should locked away, in fear of herself, and bottle up all of her fear. They tell the parents that they need to love both kids, not make Elsa fear herself. The troll doll gets tired of the bad ideas, and sends her to freaking Professor Charles Xavier! Many years later, we get the best rendition of “Let it Go” I have ever heard, because Wolverine butchers the hell out of it.

This whole video cracked me up. The parents just wanted to do what every terrible parent wants to do. Since their kid is different, alienate them until they turn into a monster. Thankfully, the troll guy had the right idea with Charles Xavier. There were no shitty songs, no snowman building, so I think it was a good Frozen video. One thing you need to know about How It Should Have Ended, is that the animation is rather crude, especially with channels like Egoraptor, Rug Burn and and ADHD. But the premise is clever, and the writing carries this over the top.
