SHOCKING! The Simpsons lose Harry Shearer…who is going to play Ned, Skinner, and Burns?

Holy Hell! I went to bed last night thinking The Simpsons were coming back for two more seasons and woke up to Harry Shearer announcing that he’s NOT returning to the show. Here are the Tweets posted less than 10 hours ago:

This coming four days after TMZ reported that they saw Simpsons creator Matt Groening out and about, and asked him to comment on the future of the series, to which everything sounded fine. Harry seems to have a different story than what TMZ’s source had noted, in that TMZ thinks Harry wanted more money from back end merchandising, whereas his Tweets indicate he just wanted the freedom to do other work. Also, I’m sure there’s a whole hell of a lot we do NOT know just yet, and I’m sure it will be made public shortly.

As for The Simpsons, what do we do now? Are we replacing the voices of Ned, Skinner, Burns, and many others, or do we get rid of those characters altogether? I think the production of Season 27 is far off enough that any major changes wouldn’t be too tough, but this is all conjecture at this time. We might hear more at San Diego Comic Con – and BubbleBlabber will be there to report.
