Review: The Jellies “Gameshow”

It’s time to play the GAAAAAAAAME!

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“Gameshow” is literally a dating game show that features three lucky contestants vying for the opportunity to date…The Game. This after KY has her “goo day”, similar to when a girl becomes a woman when she gets her period, only when you’re a jellyfish it’s black ink all over the room. Debbie convinces KY to get some of that Mr. Nasty-time, so KY tries the entire episode to hook up with The Game. That said, The Game’s actually a pretty good guy. The hip-hop mogul really wants more of a relationship than a hookup and showers The Jellies with gifts right up until KY causes a split and puts her and her family on the wrong end of a dis. The two make up, but KY still doesn’t get any.

Our Take

While the premise is familiar, it’s very rare that you see the female characters act as sex-crazed maniacs, as usually, that trope belongs to the men in the series, so it’s a rather refreshing twist when The Jellies do it. That said, this is by far the most amount of time we’ve spent with KY and my takeaway was that Kilo Kish’s vocal delivery was WAY too one-note in this episode and I think some additional vocal direction could’ve done this episode some good. As a professional singer, I expect the same kind of focus and attention to be given to her voice over as she does singing, and there’s no reason why she can’t bring that for The Jellies.

Don’t expect any serious parody of The Game, neither. As far as you’re concerned, he’s a pretty normal guy. Just looking for love just like the rest of us.
