Review: Spongebob Squarepants “There’s A Sponge In My Soup”

Was this at all groovy?

Overview (Spoilers Below)

When a bunch of hippies looking to keep warm make the new Krabby Patty soup their home. Spongebob’s gotta go in after them and be the one to convince them to leave. Unfortunately, after a bout of meditation, Spongebob returns to the restaurant to find it out of business due to the fact that Spongebob was out for long, no one was around to make Patties leaving to Mr. Krab to become a hippie himself. After a small plea, Spongebob convinces Mr. Krab to reopen for business to which the duo decide to relocate the hippies permanently…at Squidward’s house.

Our Take

I think the hippies presented in this week’s episode were a bit too sixties cliche and could’ve been presented in a more modern light. Stops in Brooklyn, Downtown LA, or San Francisco could’ve definitely given better inspiration to the producers of the series to more effectively come up with a contemporary paradoxical effort that I think would’ve hit funnier for the show’s target audience.
