Review: RWBY Chibi “Nondescript Holiday Spectacular”

The Roman that stole Christmas.

In a parody of the Grinch That Stole Christmas, Roman decides that he’s had enough of the holidays. Instead of stealing gifts and decorations, he comes up with a machine to steal holiday cheer. After sapping everyone and shoving the cheer into a bag, he has trouble moving it. When the girls come to help, he’s shocked that they would still be helpful. They respond that the machine sucked away their holiday cheer, not their ability to be good people.

Frustrated, Roman tugs at the bag, and accidentally unleashes all the cheer. He returns them all to their rightful owners. Team JNPR show up, and they argue about which Christmas story they’re supposed to be parodying.

Score:

5/10

As a holiday special, it was alright. The twist that draining enthusiasm for the holidays doesn’t mean changing who you are at the core parallels The Grinch quite nicely. At the same time, it didn’t have the same tone of fun as the original did, which dulled it down. The best part was probably the last scene, where Team JNPR come onscreen, prepared to parody A Charlie Brown Christmas.
