Review: Our Cartoon President “State Dinner”

My cartoon Prime Minister shows your cartoon President who’s boss.

Overview (Spoilers):

Trump is preparing to host the traditional White House State Dinner, which is great because he lives food.  The only problem is his opponent is the powerful, articulate, and handsome Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.  Jealousy rages as soon as Trump gets a look at his “opponent” for the dinner.  Pulling out all the stops, Trump works hard at showing up the world leader on his home turf.

When Trudeau arrives, it becomes clear that Trump is no match.  Trudeau wins the night with a dominant handshake, bilingualism, and tops the evening off by saving the presidents life and treating guests to an acoustic jam.  However, a skeptical Don Jr. may have discovered that Trudeau is a “poser.”  Or, the Trump family might have fallen right into his Canadian hands.

Our Take:

May I start by saying, as a Canadian, this episode had me like putty in their hands.  I obviously appreciate anything that makes Canadians look brilliant.  Prime Minister Trudeau has made waves as an influential world leader and gained a reputation for his dashing looks.  But, I will let you in on a Canadian secret, our world leader is not without his flaws either.  I don’t need to get into Canadian politics though.

The main point of the episode is that Trump is an embarrassment compared to the rest of the world leaders.  While the American representation of our Prime Minister may be misconstrued, the representation of Trump is spot on.  I think the world agrees that he is a sloppy mess that could easily choke on a bone because he doesn’t pay attention to what he’s eating.

Besides the entertainment of Trump versus Trudeau, everything else in the episode fell flat.  There was a lack of comedy in this comedy show, and the series continues to be unimpressive.  This episode climaxed in a big reveal conclusion that failed to hit, and the whole premise of the show is starting to wear off.  Although, I may begin to hope for a Canadian Our Cartoon Prime Minister show.  Much like the plot itself, Trudeau won this episode.
