Review: Our Cartoon President “Rolling Back Obama”

Who is Trump’s worst enemy, Obama or Trump?

Overview (Spoilers below):

Trump is pretty content with the way things are going with his presidency.  However, he still has one thing that he needs to do- and it’s the reason he became president: destroy everything Obama has done.  By pairing up speech writer Stephen Miller with his son-in-law Jared Kushner, one by one they tear down everything Obama has done.  Even going as far as recovering Osama Bin Laden’s corpse to kill it “more-dead”.  However, when Trump accomplishes his goals of destroying Obama’s legacy, the president has nothing left to fight for, and slips into depression.  Until he remembers there is one thing that he needs to do better than his predecessor, and Trump must roast himself better than Obama ever could.

Our Take:

In the short-lived series, this was the most enjoyable episode yet.  Managing to touch on the obvious flaws of Trump’s jealousy and feelings of inadequacy towards Obama, the episode was set up for success.  Instead of being a typical sitcom, it feels like Our Cartoon President finally delivered on some of the jokes we were hoping for.

This episode is also the first time the show has taken things to a ridiculous level with the re-murder of Bin Laden, and putting deer on every interstate in the country.  These are the jokes we have been expecting out of the series and they may have been worth the wait.

There are a lot of characters to make fun of in the White House but, one of the best characters in the show is Stephen Miller.  Having the dark, psychopath play a major roll in this episode probably played a part in us enjoying it more.  They showcase his crazy well.

Finally, I think the series touched on some deep issues with Trump.  Especially, with the retrospect that he may have only wanted to be president strictly due to his loathing of Obama.  Easily the best episode yet, and let’s hope for more like it.
