Review: Kirby Buckets “The Goods”

Live Hard, Sell Hard.

Spoilers Below

In a situation that would absolutely not happen in real life, Kirby Buckets has a chance to enter a contest where he can pitch cartoon ideas to Mac McCallister AT school. Mom and Dad have ideas which are kinda funny, but Kirby’s not sure they are good enough for Mac as a replacement for Big Bald Oaf. Worst yet we’ve come to find out that Kirby’s got writer’s block.

Eli and Fish are annoying me this week, so let’s focus on Kirby trying to find “The Goods”…which come from Eli…FUCK! Anyway, Eli hypnotizes Kirby to into his own mind to defeat his writer’s block JUST in time to win the contest and convince McCallister to open up an animation studio in Forest Hills with Kirby’s name on it. The pitch? A show about Kirby and his wacky friends.

Belinda and Dawn take part in a piece of shit contest that isn’t all that interesting. The only thing important that we got from here is that it inspires McCallister to keep the animation studio in Forest Hills so that Kirby can get inspiration from his nuts sister. Other than that, she just screams and hollers at the producers.

Our Take

Clearly, this was the Kirby Buckets Season Two finale, but a third season is in production which means one thing…CLIFF HANGERS! Yep, and “The Goods” have got ’em! Yes the producers leave us with quite a few strands for next season, but the best part about this episode was that this was by far the most animated episode we’ve ever seen, and it was excellent. Personally, I would be all for Kirby Buckets being 100% an animated series because…

A lot of the live-action stuff was garbage this week. Eli and Fish just find new ways to be aggravating, with the two constantly battling as to who could be the worst. Dawn and Belinda took part in a contest idea that was so unimportant, that I thought Kirby getting writer’s block was based on a true story in the writer’s room.

However I can’t deny that the live-action/animation hybrid was just given a violent shove into more animation, and I think that’s a good thing. Anytime we can get more episodes away from Fat Ricky, I’ll take it.
