Review: Harvey Beaks “Rockbark Rocks”;”Ocean Promotion”

Harvey throws up his horns.

Spoilers Below

Rockbark Rocks”

Rock sensation “Lunar Moth” is in town for a concert and Harvey’s going with his parents. Unfortunately, Harvey gets separated by his parents and learns about some of the downers of going to concerts like sweat, mosh pits, and getting tossed on stage like a beach ball. Fortunately, by way of a chance meeting with the band, Harvey learns that concerts can be a bunch of fun and is able to crowd surf his way back to his mom and dad and enjoy the show.

“Ocean Promotion”

The Lake Spirit gets a promotion to move to the ocean which has always been a dream of his. That said, Harvey and the kids don’t want to lose the only Lake Spirit they’ve ever known and attempt to convince him to stay by taking him on an impressive tour of Littlebark. It doesn’t work, but in return the Lake Spirit shows Harvey a piece of the world before moving on to the ocean. Back in Littlebark, Harvey gets a note from the Ocean Spirit and is introduced to yet another Lake Spirit.

Our Take

Boy does it feel good to get this show back in its final run. I think “Rockbark Rocks” was the better of the two episodes by a mile because it taught important lessons to kids about attending rock concerts with poignant concerns that I hope were put to rest for the viewing audience. “Ocean Promotion” is all about saying good bye to old friends and hello to new ones, but I’m not sure if I really felt any tugs on the heart for the departure of a character that was largely a reoccurring guest star and less of a main character. If like, Fee or Foo were leaving, I could see a bigger deal, but not so much for The Lake Spirit.

Still, though, this show is SO much better than The Fairly OddParents, and it’s not even a close ballgame.
