Review: Harvey Beaks “Leaf It to Kathy”; “A Child’s Guide to Surviving in the Wild”

This show is so damn good it makes me angry.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“Leaf It to Kathy”

Kathy hosts an online advice series all about plants and Kratz really likes her so he starts sending in questions for her to answer. Eventually, feelings on both sides begin to form for one another, but when Kathy gives Kratz advice that doesn’t go well, her dream skunk nearly gets eaten by a cave monster. Fortunately, Kathy’s ability to give good advice to the cave monster comes in handy and it looks like Kathy’s got his leading man.

“A Child’s Guide to Surviving in the Wild”

Rooter leaves Kratz, Harvey, Technobear, and Dade in the woods with nothing but a survival guide to judge whether or not the boys are fit to be men. At first, the book comes in handy, but when the thing gets burned beyond recognition, it gets the boys going nuts save for Harvey who is locked up in a cage. Fortunately, he’s able to outsmart his captors and everyone’s able to return just in time to watch Rooter try and say goodbye for good.

Our Take

You know what this show has been doing so well these last few episodes? Gags. Like gags, only kids from the 90s are gonna get, but everyone can enjoy. And the producers put in quite a few of them coming in flavors like visual and in dialogue. From Harvey dressing up as a stay-at-home grandma watching her favorite soap opera unfold and Kratz’s line about Miriam in “Leaf” to the silly manual and the walk home in stilettos, Harvey Beaks has the laughs to more than match up with its charm. Nickelodeon doesn’t know what it’s getting rid of, and I doubt we are gonna see a show as good as this on the Viacom net ever again.
