Review: Harvey Beaks “Jeremy: Defender of the Forest; Princess Harvey”

We get refreshes on characters you never thought you’d see.

Spoilers Below

“Jeremy: Defender of the Forest”

An old adversary for Jeremy shows up and takes over Harvey’s body for a bit. Turns out, Jeremy used to do battle with this “Darktooth” fella until the latter was banished. As Darktooth begins to destroy the forest, Jeremy convinces his one-time foe to actually come and live inside HIS brain instead, thereby having a friend and not being all evil and stuff.

“Princess Harvey”

Harvey heads over to hang out with an angry Princess who wants nothing more than her father’s attention. When Princess decides to take her anger out on her dad’s crystal, Harvey tries to stop her but the two end up swapping bodies. In order to fix this mess, Fee and Foo need to help find a new crystal. Fee and Princess decide to stay and look for the new crystal while Foo and Harvey head to the Beaks’ residence for dinner. After a bit, Princess really starts to love all the attention Harvey’s parents are giving him and as such refuses to switch back bodies. That doesn’t last long and Fee gets the assist in helping the bodies to go back to normal.

Our Take

This week’s episodes of Harvey Beaks give us takes on some of our characters that we’d probably never thought we see. Jeremy as a one-time Thor-like hero was entertaining, but there appeared to be a build-up to a final battle that never really occurred. As a result, I was bored for the first of our 23 minutes, but “Princess Harvey” was a lot better. All while featuring a morale that the show’s target audience can learn from despite a familiar premise, the second episode featured enough laughs to help make for a steadier half-hour.
