Review: Future-Worm “Bug Vs The Babysitter”; “Doug Race: 3939”; “The Panama Bananama”

Don’t tell mom that the babysitter’s head…is in an alternate dimension.

Spoilers Below

“Bug Vs. The Babysitter”

Bug stays over Danny’s house for a sleepover while all the parents go out. To help with her craziness, Bug’s dads hire a babysitter named Zoe. The kids opt to prank the babysitter which results in Zoe swapping her head with that of an alien squid’s. Danny and Fyootch attempt to track down Zoe’s head while Bug babysits the squid head. Unfortunately, Zoe kinda likes her new body, so she decides to stay for a bit, but we anger the local warlord and head back to Danny’s house. The heads are swapped back to normal but the house is in shambles. When Danny’s parents return, their heads are sent to an alternate universe…

“Doug Race: 3939”

Meg and Doug’s heads are sent to a universe where the two take part in a death-defying futuristic race. Meg takes on the role of a biker’s head, while Doug is a car side door. Unfortunately, car doors don’t make good dad replacements.

“The Panama Bananama”

Danny and Fyootch visit Aunt Bitsy as a young woman and her cohort Amazing Ape for a fun adventure. It’s Panama 1937 where Bitsy and Ape are in a jungle looking for a rare treasure. Thanks to Danny, Bitsy gets the rest of her map but loses it quickly.  Fyootch has an imprint of the map on his tongue which leads us to a temple, but Bitsy’s adversaries in the form of Brau and her guys are there. Once out of the quicksand, we get a quick battle and Amazing Ape has to do a dude’s taxes, but we get the treasure. The treasure is simply a golden phone that can call any banana…weird.

Our Take

Another episode filled with guest stars, and good ones at that. Charlyne Yi is always a solid guest star, but I actually think we got more yield out of the less advertised guest voice via Noel Wells and her take as a Young Aunt Bitsy. I loved the throwback style of her character and I hope we get more adventures with her and Amazing Ape.

As a result of the more Tomb Raider qualities of “The Panama Bananama”, I found myself preferring that bit to the two-parter featuring Danny’s head-swapping disc. Although Doug as a car door was pretty original, babysitting stories have been done to death. Give me a talking Ape doing taxes any day, and I’ll be satisfied.
