Review: Bunsen Is a Beast “Remote Outta Control” ; “Network Newbs”

Control this one to the mediocrity turnpike.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“Remote Outta Control”

Bunsen keeps eating remote controls that still keep its functions despite being inside the little guy’s belly. The worst case yet is when Bunsen gets a hold of Amanda’s remote that controls her house and as such, nearly sets off a self-destruct sequence. Fortunately, the guys call on Darcy, the designer of Amanda’s security system, and she helps fix everything.

“Network Newbs

Amanda and Bunsen/Mikey go at it in a competition so as to get a spot on the local news show. Amanda tries to get on the show with negative reporting whereas Mikey and Bunsen wanna get on with a more positive spin. The boys win out when they do a positive story on Amanda.

Our Take

The “Network Newbs” bit has been done a hundred times better on shows like The Simpsons and South Park, but I was actually into “Remote Outta Control. I was a bit concerned that it was going to be a bit too similar to Click, but that ended up not being the case and the plot actually got a few chuckles out of me when Bunsen kept eating Amanda’s remote. Unfortunately, the first episode isn’t strong enough to warrant a full see-through of the 22-minutes because “Network Newbs” was just a little too cliche, and the writers were trying REALLY hard to push that mustache gag, but it was just NOT taking.
