Renewal/Cancels Update: Zorn/Mary “Unlikely”; “Family Guy” Renewed

Some important updates on the future of broadcast franchises.

FOX has officially renewed Family Guy for a 16th season, this, along with the 29th season of The Simpsons and the eighth season of Bob’s Burgers, pretty much puts FOX’s animated fall lineup as “set” with the notable exception of FOX’s newest live-action/animated series, Son of Zorn.

Last month, we told you guys that Deadline and The Wrap were at odds over the renewal chances of both Son of Zorn and Imaginary Mary. Deadline’s most recent buzz report has downgraded Son of Zorn’s renewal chances of “unlikely” and has stayed put on Imaginary Mary which has the same renewal status. The Wrap’s latest report has both shows renewing. Similarly, Deadline has not reported on any animated pilot pickups for any of the broadcast networks as of yet.

Son of Zorn would’ve needed to begin production on its second season last month if it had any chance in hell of premiering by this Fall, though the possibility could still be open to having the show rejoin the FOX lineup by mid-season, however, this is just conjecture.
