Reddit AMA Recap: Olan Rogers And First Two Episodes Of “Final Space” Streaming Now On TBS App

Yea, we’re tired, so what?

Olan Rogers just wrapped an AMA session over on Reddit in support of the streaming premiere of his brand-new series Final Space. The first two episodes are now streaming and you can do just that using the links below after the AMA recap. Here are some highlights from the session. And in case if you are loving the pilot, Olan’s got ideas for AT LEAST six seasons, so, there could be more where that came from.

On getting to this point after a few setbacks.

Not Quitting was the hardest but persistence is key. Keep pushing towards your goal past the point of insanity where everyone tells you to quit. What keeps me going was the fact I didn’t want to do anything else. I had to tell stories so I made that my goal.

On how Youtube (where Olan got his start) is dealing with content ever since Balloonshop.

Worse way worse. I mean people don’t create on there anymore. It’s turned into a money grab so they create content for that. But they are great creators hidden on there!

On how you transition a web short to that of a TV series

I mean I went into it with my own style almost exactly how I tell stories on Youtube. But go in with a clear vision of what you want. And know where you want your story to begin and end.

Could Olan have done this without Youtube?

Not sure. I think so but I took this path so I think either way I would work as hard as possible to make it happen.

On the subtle changes to the characters’ designs from web series to TV series

Less detail makes it easier to animate. It’s a lot to animate 22 minutes. So it happens with all animation to simplify the design for that reason.

The first two episodes of Final Space are officially streaming NOW on the TBS App as well as TBS.com and are completely free  The episodes are simply titled, “Chapter One and Two”.

The intergalactic escape follows an astronaut named Gary and his planet-destroying sidekick called Mooncake. Together, the two embark on serialized journeys through space in order to unlock the mystery of where the universe actually ends and if it actually does exist

In the premiere episodes, Gary completes a 5 year prison sentence, when he meets Mooncake, a little green alien. Gary and Avocato must chase down the ruthless bounty hunter, Terk, before he can tell the Lord Commander that Mooncake is aboard the Galaxy One.
