Man with 200+ Tattoos of ‘The Simpsons’ Confirmed as Record Holder

A while back, we reported on an Australian man who was attempting to establish the Guinness World Record for most tattoos of characters from a single animated series.

With a mural on his back that includes 203 different pieces of Simpsons art, 52-year-old Michael Baxter has officially been confirmed as the record holder.

In one year, Baxter logged 130 hours (or about five-and-a-half days) in the tattoo chair of artist Jade Baxter Smith, spending AU$12,000 ($8600) in the process.

In addition to characters, Baxter’s ink also includes some iconic Springfield landmarks like Moe’s Tavern.

And the process of getting certified was almost as tedious as getting the actual tattoos. In addition to the characters needing to appear as they do in the animated series, Baxter had to provide details of the episodes in which they each appeared, in the same form as the tattoos.

“I wanted to get something which was unique, which nobody else had or would even think of getting,” he said. “I’m a huge fan of the show. I love the tattoo, and I know lots of other people, including my grandchildren, do too.”

Although no one is close to Baxter’s record, a man from New Zealand owns a different but related record: Lee Weir has the most tattoos of the same cartoon character tattooed on his – 41 of Homer on his left arm.
