‘MAD’ CREATORS GET ‘WIRED’ IN NEW INTERVIEW

MAD is one of those brands that have seen to have been around for a 100 years or so and no matter what format it’s in be it print, live action, or animated you know you are in for a good time. That said, Wired.com writer Jim McQuarrie was at San Diego Comic Con and had a chance to interview a couple of MAD staff members from the popular Cartoon Network sketch show and yea its pretty long but its a great read. Check it out…

MacQuarrie: How political is the show?

Marek: You have to keep in mind we have a demographic, which we abide by, but obviously, 6- to 12-year-olds have about as much interest in politics as we did … but we do try to put in something that, whether a 6- to 12-year-old will get it or not, it will appeal to somebody, another demographic….

Halpern-Glaser: And also, you know, because you were a kid and then you grew up, one of the most rewarding things is going back and watching something you watched as a kid and seeing jokes you didn’t get as a kid; it makes you feel smart for having liked it back then even though you didn’t know why.

MAD is on a little break now on Cartoon Network but once we hear about its return we will be sure to let you guys know!
