2017 has been a big year for adult animation with new shows like Big Mouth, Jeff and Some Aliens, and The Jellies. But, 2018 is shaping up to be even more significant. The popularity of superhero movies continues to leak over into mature cartoons. Matt Groening is preparing to launch his next animated show on Netflix. And, a slew of new shows and films are planned for the new year. Without having to list them all, we thought it would be fun to share our list of what we are most excited about:
Corner Gas
The award-winning Canadian television series, Corner Gas, is being re-launched as an animated series. The show will feature most of the original cast reprising their roles and follows the mundane humour of an isolated gas station in Dog River, Saskatchewan. Corner Gas is one of Canada’s most famous media titles, being aired in 26 countries; re-launching under animated production opens the door for the franchise to continue its prominence for years to come.
