Kermit the Frog Voice Firing Getting Ugly

What…the hell.

Turns out Steve Whitmire, former voice and performer for Kermit the Frog had “repeated unacceptable business conduct over a period of many years.”

“The role of Kermit the Frog is an iconic one that is beloved by fans and we take our responsibility to protect the integrity of that character very seriously,” according to a statement released Monday by way of The Muppet Studio. “We raised concerns about Steve’s repeated unacceptable business conduct over a period of many years and he consistently failed to address the feedback. The decision to part ways was a difficult one which was made in consultation with the Henson family and has their full support.”

WOOOOOOOHOOOOO! And to thought, we thought this was a money jam. Turns out, we’ve got ourselves at the beginning of some accusations that are being tossed around about the dependability of Whitmire. This comes only a couple of years after the performer of “Elmo” was released also due to controversial actions, so I’ll be curious to see if these reports about Whitmire come to light and we are revealed as to what really went down. In the meantime, Kermit’s got a new performer.
