Infographic: “South Park” Bests “Rick and Morty” ; “Bob’s Burgers” On Hulu

And it ain’t even close.

Two years ago, Hulu paid the producers of South Park to the tune of $192 million to be the exclusive streaming home of the animated comedy that just became legal and that is paying off handsomely for the streaming service.

In a new report from AdWeek, Hulu subscribers have watched the equivalent of 12,000 years of South Park in 2017 alone, besting anything else that Hulu has on its service right now including Bob’s Burgers and Rick and Morty, which are both popular, but not South Park popular…not even close.

Our Take

Well yea, but now that Disney is a 60%owner of the streaming service post the FOX acquisition, is Viacom gonna want to keep their content on Hulu for much longer? If I’m Netflix, I’m looking at these numbers and thinking about this when the deal with Hulu x South Park expires, because what they don’t have today is any series with deep libraries like a South Park. That said, Viacom could turn around and make their streaming service and offer up a deal when the five-year deal expires in 2020. Disney, in turn, could make a deal of their own to keep South Park where it’s at which, as you can see, is working out quite nicely for all parties involved.
