“Hot in Cleveland” to Release Well-Timed LeBron James Animated Episode

We were well aware that TVLand’s Hot in Cleveland had an animated episode in the works, but a new development might just get us to watch it.

In an instance of outstanding timing, the July 30th (10pm) episode will feature a sequence showing what Cleveland would be like if LeBron James had never left. For those of you sub-rock dwellers, it was just announced a few days ago that King James would be returning to the city he once abandoned, making the episode more topical than anyone would have thought when it was made.

As we previously mentioned, the animated episode (creatively titled “The Animated Episode”) will feature Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli), Joy (Jane Leeves), Victoria (Wendie Malick), and Elka (Betty White) as cartoons venturing out on a worldwide adventure. The women will apparently go on a psychedelic romp (so have the acid handy…never thought I’d say that about Hot in Cleveland, right?) through pop culture hits, including references to Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, The Walking Dead, and Frankenstein.

“The Great and Powerful LeBron” will be a Wizard of Oz-type character in the episode animated by the ultra-talented folks over at Titmouse, Inc. (Superjail!; Metalocalypse; China, IL.)

I have a feeling we’ll be covering this one, so be sure to check back with us for the review!
