In Highlight-worthy Move, ‘South Park’ Subs Kirk Cousins for Robert Griffin III in Premiere

South Park Redskins Before-AfterSouth Park tricked a lot of folks Wednesday night, pulling the ol’ bait-and-swtich on us (not to be confused with the ol’ masturbate-and-switch, which is an entirely different ruse altogether.)

You see, when the promo for Season 18’s premiere debuted, it featured a clip showing a cartoon Washington Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin III standing in the background behind team owner Dan Snyder and next to head coach Jay Gruden.

However, RGIII injured his ankle in the team’s week two matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and is out indefinitely. Kirk Cousins stepped up to fill-in at QB – apparently not just on the field, but also in this week’s South Park.

This is yet another example of quick thinking by the show’s animators, fixing an issue that probably wouldn’t have really been an issue to anyone. It’s not quite as impressive as making an episode about the outcome of the 2008 Presidential Election the night it happened, but it shows the care South Park takes in crafting every part of the show, as well as the capabilities of their animators and production team with short notice.

[Tip of the cap to our own ChefRich for spotting this.]
