HiDive To Launch Its Own SimulDub Competitor; Announces Launch Programming

Here’s what we know so far.

Set to launch in time for the Spring 2018 anime season, HiDive has announced that they will soon be premiering local-language dubbed anime series much in the same way Funimation does it today with their simuldubs. Known as “dubcasts”, HiDive has yet to announce which shows will be made available with launch, but have noted that they will be releasing “select titles”.

The HiDive app is available for iOS and Android, and the whole service will be made available on April 9th out of beta. The first series announced for an English dub adaptation to be featured on HiDive will be Devil’s Line and will stream within a couple of weeks of the simulcast premiere which is on April 7th.

Tsukasa, a college student, is rescued from an attack by a devil, one of many vampires that can blend in among the human population. Anzai, her savior, is a half-devil who exploits his supernatural gifts as a member of a shadowy police task force that specializes in devil-related crime in Tokyo. As Anzai continues to keep guard over Tsukasa, the two quickly forge a tentative bond—one that Anzai fears will test his iron-clad rule of never drinking human blood…

Our Take
