‘Harley Quinn’ Animated Series Headed To DC Digital

The first must-have series for the upcoming streaming service.

DC Comics in film or television is really a mixed bag in terms of quality. The live-action movies, sans Wonder Woman, have been piles of shit thus far whereas the animated films are usually excellent as well as the live-action TV series that dot the CW schedule every night of the week. Likewise, Suicide Squad was another horseshit terribad film, but if it gets some of DC Animation’s flair for stellar story-telling, it could be good!

Deadline is reporting that the DC Digital streaming service has ordered 26×30 episodes of a new adult animated Harley Quinn series inspired by the Suicide Squad film. The series sees Harley along with a host of other selections from Gotham’s rogue gallery (Poison Ivy has been confirmed) be featured in a series that will see the “Queenpin” of crime try and take over a post-Joker Gotham City. The producers are going to ask Margot Robbie to do it, but if she passes, fans would be just as happy with a name like Tara Strong to don the jester’s outfit.

Justin Halpern & Patrick Schumacker are producing as well as Dean Lorey and WB Animation.
