Game Of Thrones Creator Teases Three New Adult Animation Projects In Development

Inspired by the excellent Blue Eye Samurai which recently made our best dramas of the year list, George R.R. Martin has teased that not only the recently announced animated A SONG OF ICE & FIRE projects that are getting ready to take the next step in the development process, but that the Nine Voyages spin-off is now becoming an animated adaptation.

This is the good news. Unfortunately, George also noted that we at one point had FOUR Game of Thrones-inspired adult animated series in development, but two of them appear dead (he calls them shelved), but with Sea Snake spin-off Nine Voyages now becoming an animated adaptation instead of the originally planned live-action, the number is now back up to three. Whether or not any of them actually get ordered to series is anyone’s guess, but we can dream, can’t we?

What I do like is George’s take that Netflix is leading the pack in adult animation productions with the MAX streaming service being sorely behind. Granted Scavengers Reign made the same aforementioned list that Blue Eye Samurai did, but we don’t have a whole lot announced on the docket for 2024 from the streamer fka as HBO MAX, hopefully there’s a bunch that just hasn’t been announced.
