FOX Releases “Zorn-Less” Spring ’17 Schedule

The future does NOT look bright for Son of Zorn.

Beginning Sunday, March 5th, 2017, FOX will be promoting the following schedule:

7:00-7:30 PM                          Animation Encores

7:30-8:00 PM                          BOB’S BURGERS

8:00-8:30 PM                          THE SIMPSONS

8:30-9:00 PM                          MAKING HISTORY (Series Premiere)

9:00-9:30 PM                          FAMILY GUY

9:30-10:00 PM                        THE LAST MAN ON EARTH (Spring Premiere)

Noticeably absent is FOX’s freshman series and live-animated comedy Son of Zorn. The series was originally ordered for 13 episodes and ten have aired thus far so it appears FOX could be doing one of a few things with the franchise:

  1. The balance of three episodes will premiere before Spring comes around
  2. Son of Zorn will be sent to some sort of scheduling graveyard (like a 3am on a Saturday type deal).

The reason why the latter sounds plausible is because FOX is listing “Animation Encores” to open up the Sunday Night lineup, and I’m not sure if that even will include encores of Son of Zorn. Given the evidence, I would say no, and if FOX doesn’t care enough about the franchise to put the series in some of those encores, one has to wonder whether or not that bodes well for the future of the franchise. As of yet, Son of Zorn has yet to be ordered for a second season. This comes after Son of Zorn was bumped on this upcoming Sunday night’s schedule in favor of The Mick and then rescheduled for January 22nd, a weekend that is currently devoid of any other original premieres at the time of this writing. Bordertown went through a similar trek before ultimately being canceled, so this is a story we will continue to follow to see if that bodes true.
