English Dub Review: Lupin the Third Part IV “The Murdering Marionette”

MURDER! MURDER! MURDER!

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Lupin and his ragtag team are kidnapped by Greco for the purposes of a gambling event that’s almost a cross between Murder on the Orient Express and Rat Race where he tells the rabid gamblers that he’s turned one of them into a puppet from mind control gas. Problem is, Lupin’s team has no idea who the brainwashed subject is so while underneath a dark tomb that is being heavily monitored by surveillance equipment, the trio somehow hatch a plan that thwarts Greco all the while Lupin places a bet on his team to win which had odds that were HUGE! Greco gets a taste of his own medicine in the brainwashing department, Lupin makes it rich, and now we have to figure out who gets the cut.

Our Take

I wanted to make the overview as vague as possible because the twists and turns in the episode were excellent and well thought out. I would’ve liked to have seen something written in if Greco gets hit up by the guys betting on him to win, but overall “The Murdering Marionette” featured an excellent plot that, while featuring familiar tropes, had an ending that was so juicy good that you’ll need to watch it twice. By far the best series Adult Swim has had all Toonami 2017.
