English Dub Review: Fuuka “Date!”

You’re gonna need a montage…..MONTAGE!!!!!

Spoilers Below

Yu and Hinashi go out on a date and during the course of the episode, their friendship seems to be growing stronger each passing day much to the dismay to Fuuka who is suffering from writer’s block as a result of her growing feelings for her Fallen Moon bass player. Fuuka is attempting to write the first original piece of music for Fallen Moon, but while the music gets put together rather quickly, the lyrics are coming along slow. That said, Fuuka also takes her first meeting with music producer Akira Mogami who wants to sign her and make her the next big star, however, she turns him down vehemently and decides to stick to her band.

Our Take

I would say half of this week’s episodes were montages, and they were all over the place and way more prevalent than at any time in this show’s run thus far. Whether it was the actual songwriting process or band meetings, and even a lot of the big date between Yu and Hinashi was just all montage. That said, Akira’s an important character to take note and the relationship drama between Fuuka and Hinashi is starting to kick up again after a few weeks on the back burner.
