English Dub Review: Dragonball Super “The Universe Crumbles?! Clash! God of Destruction vs. Super Saiyan God”

The shockwaves felt round the world… and Universe!

Spoilers Below

Even after Goku’s near-death experience from episode 11, the “Battle of the Gods” continues as they both power-up to the point that whenever Goku & Beerus touch fists, It starts to send shockwaves that reverberate across both the earth and universe.

The shockwaves understandably make everyone nervous. Even Kabito-Kai, Old Kai and King Kai feel it’s devastating power with Old Kai knowing that at some point, their battle will put both the earth & universe at risk if they keep hitting fists the way they are right now.

The fight is intercut between other character moments from Bulma & Co. attempting to watch the battle to on her airship, to a comedic scene where Vegeta looks up emotionless & statue-like while Whis tries to interact with him and fails to Hercule later being saved by Whis when the ship carrying Bulma & Co. almost crashing on him.

After fully powering up, Goku eventually figures out how to reduce the shockwaves of their strikes so they don’t jeopardize earth, but that doesn’t mean their clashing powers aren’t putting the galaxy at risk.

Beerus advises Goku not to take him so lightly and fires an even more powerful energy ball but Goku struggles to intercept it once more with a Kamehameha Wave but the shockwaves inadvertently destroy a random planet.

We then finally cut to Kabito-Kai & Old Kai in a comedic scene who think their number is up so Old Kai hilariously gives Kabito-Kai a dirty magazine as a parting gift but Kabito-Kai slaps it from his hands knowing it’s an inappropriate time to be a perv. The episode ends in cliffhanger fashion when a bright flash of light covers the entire Earth leaving we the audience wondering who survived the blast.

Our Take

Another decent episode as the fight further continues onwards. Consistently it tries to set itself apart “Battle of Gods” with newer comedic moments thrown in and visually the fluid animations of Beerus’ purple and Goku’s firey dragon-shaped auras are beautifully drawn. I only wonder why it took so long for us to get to this point.
