English Dub Review: A Sister’s All You Need “Adventure is All You Need”

Adventure time!

Overview:

With Fuwa still disappointed in how viewers responded to his anime, Itsuki suggests a TRPG (tabletop RPG) with Haruto as Game Master, hoping to lift his friend’s spirits. Realizing they need more people to play, and knowing that his friend has a lot of free time, the black-haired author invites his brother, Miyako, and Kaniko.

The game that Haruto chooses for the group is described as a traditional “swords and magic” TRPG, similar to Dungeons and Dragons. Both Chihiro and Nayu choose to be little sisters to Itsuki’s character. Miyako is the only one who chooses an older age than Itsuki, prompting him to pretend he had no problem with it.

The group’s characters go on an adventure that is anything but typical in a ‘swords and magic’ setting, considering the participants of the game and their individual quirks. Despite the weirdness of some participants, the Game Master’s story goes in a direction that a skilled Game Master expects it to with the right ‘rolls.’

Our Take:

It was good to see how much better Fuwa felt after his participation in the activity. There were some subtle and some not-so-subtle references to famous TRPGS, which kept me drawn to the story within the story. Loved the story and the roles each character decided to think up.
