DVD Review: Family Guy Season 14

Find out if this new DVD release is worth it for the holiday season.

20th Century FOX’s lone animated series that doesn’t require you to MOD on Amazon has released a brand-new 3-disc DVD set. It’s called Family Guy S14 and for $20 (at Best Buy) you get 20 episodes, plus commentaries on select episodes, deleted scenes, and animatics.

The REAL buy in this episode is a featurette entitled “The Art of Family Guy” and it features producers of the series to talk about the season’s episodes that needed a little extra attention in terms of art direction. It’s a fascinating look at how the hard work pays off for Family Guy, albeit a tad underwhelming as I wish we went into a little more depth on say. a look at the voices playing their roles or maybe even how the episodes were scored.

That said, it never gets old hearing Stewie say “Fuck”…never. And that’s worth the price of the 3-discs alone because Hulu doesn’t do that, and Netflix does, but no special features. It’s it the most special feature-laden home release we’ve ever seen from 20th Century FOX? No, but it’s pretty much the only franchise left doing it.
