COMICS REVIEW: DISNEY’S COMIC ZONE WINTER 2012 “Wreck-It Ralph, Phineas and Ferb, and Fish Hooks”

Wreck-It Ralph

“Wrecking Party”

Ralph thinks he’s been abandoned but really Gene and Felix throw the big oaf an impromptu wrecking party! Gene actually constructs a wall for Ralph to wreck, but everyone else besides Felix wants to take a shot at it and see if they can knock it down, too. But, when push comes to shove, its always good to have a little backup!

“The Donut Kart”

Duncan and Wyntchall need to go fast so they turn to Vanellope of whom helps them build a cart so big they can’t even drive it. That said, its a great way for drivers to slow down while on the track!

Phineas and Ferb

“Amazon Adventure”

A big huge anaconda shows up in the Fletcher back yard causing the kids to go on an adventure to bring it back to its home in the Amazon. As a result, Phineas and Ferb with friends teleport to Brazil where they come across a host of wild life all of which are dangerous. Eventually, the kids do make it to the snake’s family and are able to teleport back home.

Meanwhile, Perry and Doof are at it again and Doof is awful fed up with Perry ruining his plans all the time and takes Perry back to Brazil so he can get a new snake after losing his other one. Eventually, Perry gets out of his trap, and teleports with Phinea and Ferb back to Danville all the while leaving Doof back with the snakes!

“As The Worm Turns”

Doof creates a machine that zaps Perry’s food into big hulking creatures looking for a snack. Perry is able to fend them all off, and even cause one of the ‘grubs’ to destroy both the inator and gobble up Doof.

“Tunnel Vision”

Perry’s got a long commute to work in order to see Major!

Fish Hooks

Oscar and Milo fake sick to get out of a ridiculous gym drill. While on their way to get something to eat they get into a mingle with Jocktopus but both are able to escape relatively unscathed. Bea shows up saying she needs to understudies to be in her new theater production about gyms but the guys get out of it and pretty much complete the obstacle course while trying to  ward off Jocktopus and Coach Salmon. That said, they actually finish the course and do a good job which means now the coach can place them in more difficult drills!
This month’s issue of Comic Zone from Disney is certainly starting to show the power of some of its newer brands most notably Wreck-It Ralph. That said, they do a good job of mixing it up, but the Phineas and Ferb strips seemed(especially the last two) didn’t seem all too thought out. The Ralph and Hooks comics were pretty good, but if you REALLY like Kick Buttkowski then you might find worth in the $10 price tag. If not, just read it while at Barnes or something.
