This issue features four distinct snippets. The first, ‘Gunter the Hero’ by Kevin Stanton is about Princess Bubblegum and Marceline going on a quest for the Cereal Princess to find out why the milk throughout the kingdom has spoiled. They are joined by Gunter, who is on the same quest for reasons unknown. The chalk-like art style of simple shapes initially seems strange for a serious quest story, but ends up making perfect sense with the ending revelation. Gunter, as the mysterious being that he is, adds a charming side to an otherwise action-filled story.

Spring Cleaning’ by Marine Jules also features Bubblegum and Marceline, as they try to find a poltergeist that is wreaking havoc across Bubblegum’s castle. The two are always a good combination, and we see this here with Marceline’s magic mixing with Bubblegum’s scientific knowledge. The ghost-hunting instruments that Bubblegum creates seems to be a callback to Ghostbusters, ghost-trapping equipment and all.

Sick Kicks’ by Kiki’shh is a one-page story about the wacky Choose Goose and his artifact exchange business. It starts out with Choose Goose trading mythical items for fantasy items, and finishes on a humorous note. In the end, the merchant still has things that he wants for himself, even if it’s just for style. The colors in the artwork are bright and fun, reflecting Choose Goose’s outlandish character.

Lastly is ‘I’m Lost’ by Fran Kraus, which centers around Ee-ow getting lost in the woods. Interestingly, the entire comic is illustrated in shades of pink. Their monologue becomes increasingly more surreal and introspective, even when other people are around. While the ending is darkly comedic, the story itself is fairly unsettling. The dialogue and how it gets progressively more deranged gives this segment a very different tone compared to the rest of the issue. Despite this change, this story was an interesting take on Ee-ow’ character.

Overall, the issue is a fun read, and it is nice to see different artists contribute their stories to the Adventure Time universe.
