Charter/Disney Deal Removes FXX And Freeform
If you’re a Charter subscriber that used to happily watch Archer on Wednesday Nights @ 10 pm ET/PT on FXX and were tuning in last night to see the latest episode only to not be able to, don’t worry, you’re not alone.
As part of the new carriage deal with Disney and Charter, a number of Disney-owned channels are no longer made available on the Charter premium service which now includes FXX (Archer) and Freeform. So, if you’re wanting to watch reruns of The Simpsons or Family Guy, both which have helped FXX become one of the most popular cable channels in the last several years, you’re going to have to either subscribe to Hulu, rely on local syndication, or just watch FOX’s Animation Domination lineup which will have new episodes of both starting October 1st. The bad part is that Freeform and FXX were homes to new original series like Praise Petey, Little Demon, and others, and it doesn’t seem likely that there would be much effort to renew those for the cable nets unless if they do super well on streaming platforms.
Right now, FXX is launching the final episodes of Archer, however, beyond that we don’t know of FXX’s additional plans for new adult animated series. Freeform just finished with the very well received Praise Petey and it is not known if a second season is on the way.
Update 9/20: FX has made available Archer via OnDemand for Spectrum customers.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
