Boston Celtics Player Gets “Rick and Morty” Inspired Nickname

And it works!

The name Terry Rozier might not mean anything right now to anyone that doesn’t regularly watch NBA Basketball, specifically the brand of basketball that the Boston Celtics are playing right now. Those that do watch the game may have witnessed what many consider to be a sixth-man of the year worthy performance by the point guard that is probably going to be part of the team’s starting lineup given all of the injuries the Celtics have been experiencing now including from their point guard candidate Kyrie Irving.

In the last 16 games alone, Terry Rozier has averaged almost 16 points a game and is shooting 47%(!!!!!!) from three-point range, all of which are career highs. So it makes total sense that the moniker “Scary Terry” has started to pop up to help describe Rozier’s recent play. Inspired by Rick and Morty, “Scary Terry” is a Freddy Kreuger sendup introduced in the very first episode of Rick and Morty entitled “Lawnmower Dog” where he was doing his best to be as scary as possible.

It’s really quite a great comparison, and “Scary Terry” merchandise inspired by Terry Rozier has been produced though looking nothing like the character and with each item is completely sold out at the time of this writing.

For those wanting Rick and Morty “Scary Terry” merch, here’s a good place to start.
