Boom! Studios gets first-look deal from Cartoon Network; Announces ‘Steven Universe’ and ‘Gumball’ comics series
Comics Alliance got the exclusive on two stories, the first being that following the success of such releasing comics inspired by the likes of Regular Show, that Boom! Studios has announced a first-look deal with Cartoon Network to release comics inspired by any and all animated shows on the network. The deal in place will pertain only to new-school Cartoon Network shows as opposed to older ones like Samurai Jack which are published via IDW.
Two new comics series that are currently in the works under the new deal include Steven Universe,which got sneaked in an issue of Adventure Time comics back in October, and another series inspired by The Amazing World of Gumball starting in June (of which you can get a first-look here).
The Amazing World of Gumball is getting ready to premier its third season in May and Steven Universe is in the middle of its first season on Cartoon Network usually premiering after the aforementioned Regular Show on Monday Nights.
