Artist for Simpsons Mural Selected – and You Just Might Recognize Him

At long last, the artist for the much-anticipated Simpsons mural in Springfield, Oregon has been chosen. Eric Nicolaisen and his firm, Old City Artists, scored the highest among the eight potential applicants, and were awarded the job.

Old City Artists – who have offices in Studio City, California and Portland, Oregon – specialize in large-scale photo-realistic murals and hand-painted solutions, according to their website.

“We received eight fantastic proposals from great artists, but Old City Artists’ experience working with well-known brands, their skill at quickly reproducing recognizable imagery was unmatched, and their references were impeccable,” said city spokesman Niel Laudati in a statement.

A team of four (including Eric) will arrive in the area in mid-to-late August, and expect to spend five days completing the project.

Nicolaisen is a 35-year-old graduate of the University of Oregon who founded the firm in 2011. He also acts, and has had numerous small roles in television, movies, and video games.
